Acorn - EYFS

Class Overview

Welcome to Acorn Class. Our class teacher is Mrs Ball who is also the EYFS and KS1 team leader and is part of the Senior Leadership Team.  Mrs Ball teaches in Acorn class on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. The class is taught by Mrs Gilbert on a Wednesday and by Ms Rowe on a Friday. Miss Smith supports the class everyday.

Curriculum

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, providing a broad and balanced curriculum that supports every child’s learning and development.

Our curriculum encompasses the seven areas of learning and development, delivered through carefully planned, purposeful play and meaningful experiences, both indoors and outdoors. We provide stimulating and challenging opportunities that encourage children to explore, experiment, take risks and learn through first-hand experiences, while developing confidence, independence and a lifelong love of learning.

By nurturing children’s natural curiosity and interests, we create an environment where they feel motivated and excited to learn. We recognise that every child is unique and respond to their individual needs, interests and developing abilities, supporting their progress through warm, positive and purposeful interactions that take place throughout each day.

What to bring when

Please bring in your named book bag and water bottle everyday.                                                                                                                          A change of clothes, a pair of wellies and a waterproof coat should remain at school.

Our P.E. day is Thursday. Children are expected to come to school in their P.E. kit on this day.

Homework and spellings

Each Thursday, homework will be uploaded onto ClassDojo. The homework is due back the following Monday. The homework is linked to what we have been working on in class that week and is aimed to be accessible independently, however we would love you to use this as valuable time to discuss your child's learning with them.

Spelling patterns will be uploaded onto the school website and ClassDojo at the beginning of each half-term to allow you to practise at home.
