Exciting news!
A fantastic team of four Year 5 children, Tristan, Lewis, Jethro and Stefan, have brought glory to Meridian by winning the Cambridgeshire Year 5 Maths Challenge Final held at the Over Community and Conference Centre on Wednesday 10th July.
Our champions battled against the top teams from other heats, showcasing their exceptional problem solving skills and teamwork throughout the competition. The challenge consisted of three rounds:
• Team Round: Collaborating to solve 10 challenging math questions.
• Memory Round: Using their memory to work with images and graphs.
• Relay Round: A fast-paced relay featuring various math quizzes.
The Meridian team impressed everyone with their collaborative spirit and their ability to tackle complex problems in all three rounds. Their victory is a testament to their dedication to math and their commitment to working together as a unit.
We are incredibly proud of Meridian team's accomplishment at the competition.
Exciting news! Our Year 5 children were offered the chance to write a speech in a very short time on "Space exploration or deep-sea exploration?". Chiara, Bea, Lewis, and Nicholas wowed the Year 5 teachers with their incredible writing.
Nicholas was put forward to represent the school in the Public Speaking Competition Final organised by CB23 Network and Peterhouse, University of Cambridge on 18th January. Nicholas clinched the Best Speaker in the Year 5 and 6 group title among 18 participants from 10 schools in Southwest Cambridge. Judges from Peterhouse and two Peterhouse students were impressed. Well done Nicholas, a wonderful achievement!
Special thanks to class teachers, Ms Chamberlain and Ms Skinner for their support.
