What the PTA does for our kids
Whilst talking to a parent yesterday, the realisation of what the PTA do for our children’s school is quite amazing.
Did you know that if it wasn’t for the PTA, the school wouldn’t have:
• Fruit delivered to each KS1 child every day • New Parent Picnic • SCHOOL DISCO every October
• Nearly new uniform sales • BINGO • Christmas cards bespoke with your child’s design
• KS1 Christmas Performance on DVD • Pancake Toss every February • Mothers/ Fathers Day Secrets • Bake sales • Bags 2 School • Sports Day Refreshments • Annual end of year Summer Social / Fete with bouncy castles, stands, etc. • Year 6 keepsakes • Yearbook for ALL • ...plus more (like the new library we achieved to raise funds for together in 2014/15).
In 2018/19 we raised funds for the lights in the hall. These have been installed in half term October 2019 and the children of YR5 and YR6 will be able to use them for all plays (KS1 and KS2) held at school.
And without the above, fundraising could not be achieved for; school trips, school refurbishments, classroom equipment, computer equipment, maintenance equipment... and so so much more.
The PTA needs volunteers to help us to continue. It will be sad to see all of the above disappear. Let’s work together.
If you can’t commit to a role, then please do come along to a meeting anyway to see what you can do. It can be as little or as large as you like... we welcome all newcomers to our meetings.

The Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) at Meridian Primary School is made up of parents, carers and staff, who meet regularly to plan the fundraising and social events that help to build and strengthen links between parents and carers, the school and the local community, as well as raising money to provide extra facilities and opportunities for our children.
We are a Registered Charity (No 1118780) as we have an annual income in excess of £5,000 and as such are registered with the Charity Commission. Being a Registered Charity gives us other benefits including being able to apply for Gift Aid, to raise funds from relevant grant giving trusts and local businesses and to take advantage of charity matched giving schemes.

The PTA meet every 6 to 8 weeks, generally on a Wednesday evening at 8.00pm at school. Meetings typically last for 1 to 2 hours and cover recently held events and upcoming activities that ultimately look to raise funds that can be invested back into the school.
Events that the PTA are involved with are frequently advertised using ParentMail (please contact Ann Webb at school reception to be added to ParentMail), on the school website or the PTA distribution list.
