Learning for life, striving for excellence!
At Meridian, we want every child to flourish and experience life in all its fullness. We believe it is vital that children develop a strong understanding of themselves, our shared values, their role within society and how to navigate the opportunities and challenges of the modern world. Through PSHE, children explore these important themes within a safe, supportive and nurturing classroom environment.
Our PSHE curriculum is carefully designed to equip children with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to manage the pressures and demands they may encounter in life. We aim to nurture confident individuals who demonstrate self-belief, compassion, resilience and integrity. Through their learning, children are encouraged to value and respect themselves as unique individuals, appreciate and celebrate others, build positive and healthy relationships, and develop a sense of responsibility as global citizens who can contribute positively to the world around them.
Personal, Social and Health Education is embedded throughout everyday school life and not limited to timetabled lessons alone. At Meridian, PSHE lies at the heart of our commitment to developing the whole child. We strive to create a strong sense of belonging within each class and across the wider school community.
Within this respectful and inclusive environment, children learn about relationships, healthy and safe lifestyles, citizenship and economic wellbeing through a carefully sequenced curriculum that builds progressively on prior learning. Teachers adapt resources from the Cambridgeshire Personal Development Programme to ensure lessons meet the needs of all children and reflect the unique context of each class.
We know our PSHE curriculum is successful when children can confidently talk about themselves, their relationships and their rights and responsibilities both within school and in the wider world. We monitor the impact of PSHE through learning outcomes as well as through the personal development and wellbeing of our pupils.
Our curriculum supports children to become confident, respectful and compassionate individuals who value others and demonstrate this through their words and actions. We want our children to leave Meridian equipped with the skills, understanding and character needed to thrive in their future lives
